It was a wonderful weekend for the Fall Confirmation Retreat! The rain stopped before we arrived, the sun came out, and the colors on the trees were spectacular. The theme for the fall retreat was journey. We acknowledge that we are all on a life-long faith journey. This retreat was all about building community and growing closer to God!
Adult leaders and Teen Mentors (10th-12th graders who have already been confirmed) drove up to Camp Salie, just west of Stacy, MN on Friday evening. They had some important work to do to prepare for the Fall Confirmation Retreat. There were cars to be unloaded, skits to be practiced, music to be sung, things to be set up, and, of course, praying to be done.
On Saturday morning, the Confirmation students arrived. The Teen Mentors were each paired up with a Confirmation student. They will be “buddies” for the whole year. The Teen Mentor’s role is to help their student to navigate the journey of Confirmation. Relationships were built and strengthened over the weekend through games, activities, talks, meals, walks in nature, songs, and prayer. We celebrated Mass together on Saturday evening with Fr. Bob.
On Sunday, we learned about the gifts that the Holy Spirit has given us and how we can use those to build up our community. By the time Sunday afternoon rolled around, we were no longer students in class together, we were friends. We even got to enjoy the first snowfall of the season together! We will continue to deepen these relationships throughout the year. Please pray for the Confirmation students on their faith journey!
