Whatever your present status in the Catholic Church, whatever your
current family or marital situation, whatever your past or present
religious affiliation, whatever your personal history, age, background,
race or color, sexual orientation, whatever your self-esteem…
you are
invited, welcomed, accepted, loved and respected by the
Catholic Community of Corpus Christi.
Let us know your needs, your hopes, your gifts.
There is a place for you here.

Opening Song

On That Holy Mountain:

Wide (often best for monitors and tablets):

Tall (often best for handhelds):

Opening Prayer

We begin in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,

Amen

Now, here in this place
with a moment of silence
to reflect,
to focus,
to be attentive to ourselves,
to one another,
and to the presence of Christ,
Emmanuel: “God with us.”
We confess that our hearts are too often filled with wonder of a different kind: wondering when the bills we be paid, when this isolation will be lifted, when unity will be restored, when things will feel normal again. In a world where worry, not peace prevails, send your Holy Spirit. May your light shine brightly so we can see you everywhere. Help us to spread your light and joy by giving freely and gratefully to all we meet.

The Word

Let us now welcome God’s Word into our hearts.
Creator of light and darkness,
to you be glory and praise forever.
As evening falls,
you renew your promise to reveal among us the light of your presence.
May your word be a lantern to our feet,
and a light upon our path,
that we may behold your coming among us.
Strengthen us in our stumbling weakness,
and free our tongues to sing your praise.

A reading from the Book of Prophet Isaiah
The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is upon me,
for the LORD has anointed me
to bring good news to the poor.
He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted
and to proclaim that captives will be released
and prisoners will be freed.
He has sent me to tell those who mourn
that the time of the LORD’s favor has come,
and with it, the day of God’s anger against their enemies.
To all who mourn in Israel,
he will give a crown of beauty for ashes,
a joyous blessing instead of mourning,
festive praise instead of despair.
In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks
that the LORD has planted for his own glory.
The word of the Lord

Thanks Be To God

Prayers of the Faithful

Trusting in the light that illuminates our path we pray:

Our Advent sung response:

Where there seems to be no way to end the conflict and violence in our time,
we pray that you would teach us

Where we can find no way to work together for the justice and dignity of all humans,
we pray that you would change us

Where we are unable to believe in a way to live simply, responsibly and mindfully,
we pray that you would inspire us

Loving God, you light the earth and fill it with blessings.
Make us a beacon of hope for all who wait in darkness.

Tableprayer

The Tableprayer is a long sung prayer and we provide a couple different forms of the printed music for you to try on your device. You might want to try them before you start the song to see which works best for your particular device.

If your device will handle this form, it is probably the most convenient:
A PDF version of the entire music score

Alternatively, below are the six individual pages of the music.
If you choose to use these it is probably best to open each one, at least briefly, before you start the music:

United with our sisters and brothers everywhere,
together we pray in the words Jesus taught us:

Our Father,
who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done.
on earth, as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom and the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

Amen.

Final Blessing

Gracious God,
we thank you for the hope you give us. We pray for light and guidance in the darkness of our lives.
When we seek darkness,
bring us to the light.
When we walk the paths of war and injustice,
guide us to your path of love and mercy.
You have promised rest for the weary,
peace for the anxious,
and acceptance for the outcast,
not just in Advent, but every day of the year.
Help us prepare our hearts for the Lord’s coming
by being the light of Christ in others.

Amen
