On Saturday afternoon, three youth and three adults from Corpus Christi and Saint Rose of Lima went to the Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul. At the entrance, they were personally greeted by Archbishop Hebda and Bishop Cozzens. Archdiocesan Youth Day drew 1,200 Catholic youth from around the Archdiocese. The day featured music by Sonar, speakers, break-out sessions, Q&A with the bishops, a performance by a band made up of priests from the Archdiocese called Second Collection, Reconciliation, Mass, and Eucharistic Adoration. The theme was “Do not be afraid.” from Luke 1:30.
For this group of high school seniors, it was at least their second time attending AYD. They certainly took the theme “Do not be afraid” to heart as they went to Reconciliation immediately when we arrived. Once they were free from the binds of sin, they spent the rest of the day smiling, listening, worshiping, singing, and praising God. It was amazing for the adults to see so many young people reflecting the love of God. It was a beautiful day and a wonderful chance to recharge our faith together.
