Corpus Christi Youth Group

Our parish community values young people, not only as future leaders of the Catholic Church, but as leaders in the faith today. We seek to provide a program and ministry that encourages young people to lead lives of holiness while providing them with opportunities to encounter Christ, learn about the Catholic Church, serve others, and grow in faith.

All youth ministry events are open to youth in grades 9-12th. Make sure to fill out an Annual Permission Form & Health History. This form covers all activities that take place at church during the Faith Formation year September 2020 – August 2021.

Vacation Bible School Youth Volunteers

Youth going into 6th – 12th grade are welcome to volunteer at Vacation Bible School to spend time with and lead elementary aged children through a week of fun learning and faith building. VBS will take place June 21st – 25th, 2021 from 9:00am – 12:00pm at Church of Corpus Christi. Our theme this year is “Treasured.” Come join us on an adventure and discover how we are treasured by God! To register to be youth volunteer use the link below. **Note: If Church of Corpus Christi does not have a completed 2020-2021 Annual Permission Form and current signed Code of Conduct for student volunteer, we will require this documentation before volunteering experience begins.

Corpus Christi Youth Group Gatherings

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, mandates from the state of Minnesota and guidelines from Archbishop Hebda, our CCYG gatherings are paused, and we will be switching gears for the remainder of the faith formation year. Instead of in-person CCYG gatherings on Wednesday nights, we are introducing student-led Discipleship Groups. These groups will consist of Middle and High School students with a teen mentor leader. The groups will bond over a specific topic of interest that relates to our Catholic faith and learn from one another. They will meet every other week via Zoom with hopes of being in-person before the end of the Faith Formation year. We hope the Discipleship Groups provide a less structured, casual, and fun approach to learning more about the Catholic faith with your peers. Stay tuned for more information on how to join a Discipleship Group. In the meantime, feel free to follow us on Instagram at @corpuschristi.youthgroup to stay in the know about all things CCYG!

Teen Mentors

Teen Mentors typically assist with the Confirmation program by helping on the fall and spring retreats, leading discussions during Confirmation class periodically throughout the year, and participating in Prayer Night. This 2020-2021 faith formation year, we are postponing our Confirmation program for 9th grade and will offer it for both 9th and 10th graders in 2021-2022. If you wish to be a teen mentor for the 2021-2022 faith formation year, please reach out to Liz Russell at any time at liz@ccmn.org.

This year, Teen Mentors will be leading Discipleship Groups for 6th-9th grade students during Spring Semester. Groups will meet on Zoom. Please contact Liz Russell at liz@ccmn.org to sign up to lead.

Adult Leaders

We are in need of fun adults who have a desire to share their faith with our youth. If you are interested in volunteering with the Corpus Christi youth group, please contact Laura Schaad at laura@ccmn.org .

All volunteers must be background checked and have completed VIRTUS training as required by the Archdiocese. A Code of Conduct form must be completed each year, while the background check is renewed every three years. Adult volunteers that may be driving youth to and from events must also fill out a driver form.

Laura Schaad is a cradle Catholic who continues to learn and grow in the beautiful faith of the Church. She graduated from College of Saint Benedict in May 2019 with a BA in Theology and Secondary Education. While undergoing her student teaching experience, Laura heard God calling her to teach the faith in a parish church instead of a traditional school classroom. She is delighted to be a part of the Corpus Christi community and is excited to care for and learn from the parishioners here. Laura hopes to connect with every community member over a possible common love for cooking, baking, books, TV shows, Minnesota, and of course, Catholicism.
